Our Goal

Our goal is to make this resource free and accessible, while protecting the integrity of its content. As such, the handbook is presented in a protected flipbook format interspersed with advertising from our sponsors.

With the exception of Chapters #15 thru #18, the text of this book cannot be copy/pasted; however, screenshots are possible, and a watermark ensures proper attribution.

The contribution of our advertising sponsors allows us to keep this resource free at the point of use. However, we promise no annoying pop-ups, ever.

Standardising Grades & Contracts

Sceats Coal Report arrived at the average spec behind its eight benchmark grades by reviewing coal inspection certificates for a multitude of deliveries in 2023 and 2024. CTH carries the Asia Pacific’s coal specifications in Chapter #14.

And if the up-to-date average of coal specifications in Asia Pacific is the Star of the second half of the CTH, the standard coal contract in the following chapter is the Co-Star, or more specifically “Co-STA.”

Prepared in conjunction with lawyers on the panel of litigation broker Sceats-Coal.Law, the “Coal Standard Trading Agreement” (Co-STA) makes up Chapter #15. Co-STA #1 is for the FOB Indonesia trade, other Co-STAs will follow.

Unlike other standard contracts in the coal market, the Co-STA is free to use without any licence; just source: CoalTradersHandbook.Net.
